Mesotherapy is a commonly used technique in aesthetic medicine. It involves administering active substances into the dermis. In the classical version, the procedure is performed with a needle. The procedure mainly serves to biorevitalize the skin. To maintain its effects, it is important to follow post-treatment recommendations. Check how post-mesotherapy care should be carried out.

What is skin mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive injection technique. During the procedure, the doctor administers the chosen preparation directly into the dermis. The method allows bypassing the skin barrier, which is impermeable to most ingredients found in cosmetics. During the treatment, either single active substances or cocktails are used. At Dr. Parda Clinic, we also use preparations obtained from the patient's blood or fat.

The effects of mesotherapy, besides the action of the administered active substance, result from the needling itself. This leads to processes that stimulate, among other things, the production of new collagen.

What is the mesotherapy procedure like at Dr. Parda Clinic?

The mesotherapy procedure takes place in a doctor's office. It most commonly concerns the face. We perform it after anesthetizing the treatment area with an anesthetic cream. The active substance is administered with a needle. The preparation for the procedure is selected individually, depending on the diagnosed problem.

We offer patients mesotherapy with preparations such as:

  • polynucleotides,
  • non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid,
  • platelet-rich plasma,
  • nanofat.

In some cases, a series of treatments is recommended.

What are the recommendations after mesotherapy?

After the procedure, minor bruising or slight swelling may occur, which disappear within a few days. Skin mesotherapy does not require recovery. However, it is necessary to follow post-treatment guidelines. One of the most important recommendations is to avoid UV exposure for at least 72 hours after the procedure. Additionally, swimming in pools, sauna visits, and intense physical activity are not recommended within 72 hours post-treatment.

For up to 7 days after mesotherapy, the use of anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory medications is also not recommended. Moreover, the patient should refrain from consuming alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment. It is also important to change towels and bed linens to clean ones. Avoiding direct contact with pets for 72 hours post-procedure is also recommended.

What does post-mesotherapy care involve?

To maintain the effects of the treatment, proper facial skin care is also necessary. After mesotherapy, it is advisable to avoid using colored cosmetics for at least 24 hours and to pay special attention to hygiene. Due to micro-injuries, the face should be gently washed with water and dried with a clean towel to minimize the risk of transferring microorganisms from the towel to the skin.

Post-mesotherapy care also recommends the use of protective creams with UV filters as well as moisturizing and regenerating preparations (e.g., those containing zinc). The healing of bruises, if they appear, can be accelerated with the use of arnica ointment. It is also wise to be cautious when planning subsequent cosmetic and aesthetic treatments.

Remember that the effectiveness of mesotherapy and other aesthetic medicine treatments also depends on overall lifestyle. To prolong the results of procedures, patients should avoid excessive sun exposure, stimulants, prolonged stays in air-conditioned rooms, and bad skincare habits, such as not removing makeup before bed.
