How to sunbathe safely – which treatments prepare you for sun exposure and regenerate damaged skin?

The sun is one of the main causes of aging, cancers, and other skin problems. In the summer, when we are particularly exposed to UV radiation, protection and care with cosmetics may not be sufficient. Therefore, before a vacation or after returning from one, you might consider an aesthetic medicine treatment. Check out the moisturizing and regenerating procedures we perform at Dr. Parda's clinic in Piaseczno.

The impact of the sun on the skin

Exposure to sunlight is one of the main causes of so-called extrinsic skin aging. UVA radiation is responsible for this process. It penetrates the skin and damages its cells and structural fibers—collagen and elastin. It also destroys capillaries.

Excessive exposure to the sun also contributes to erythema and sunburns. It is largely responsible for cancers (including malignant melanoma) and skin changes such as hyperpigmentation, spider veins, or actinic keratosis. UVB radiation is the cause of these problems.

How to safely enjoy the sun?

To slow down the aging process and reduce the risk of diseases resulting from UV exposure, it is important to remember the rules for safe sun exposure.

We should protect ourselves from ultraviolet radiation with appropriate clothing, a hat, and sunglasses. It is also advisable to avoid the sun in the middle of the day, between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Additionally, you should generously apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. If swimming or sweating, the product should be reapplied every 2 hours. Skin protection should not be neglected year-round because UVA radiation intensity remains constant. Moreover, during hot weather, it's essential to avoid medications that cause burns or discoloration when exposed to the sun.

In addition, for skin cancer prevention, it is recommended to have an annual dermatological check-up of moles (so-called nevi) and other skin changes. If you notice changes in existing moles or a new, atypical spot on the skin, you should urgently consult a doctor. No skin changes should be irritated, burned, or removed in a beauty salon.

What skin treatment is suitable for summer?

Another method for effectively caring for your skin in the summer is aesthetic medicine. It can be used to prepare your skin for sun exposure before a vacation, as well as to regenerate it after excessive sunbathing.

For this purpose, at Dr. Parda's clinic in Warsaw, we offer treatments using products such as:

  • Hyaluronic acid (HA): This is one of the most commonly used products in aesthetic medicine. HA is a moisturizing compound naturally present in the skin, which decreases with age and sun exposure. After mesotherapy with hyaluronic acid, the skin becomes hydrated, firmer, and more elastic. Additionally, the face looks younger and more rested. A skin treatment with HA, if properly performed, is safe;
  • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP): This is a preparation made from the patient's own blood. It is rich in growth factors and stem cells, which naturally stimulate skin regeneration. After a PRP treatment, also known as a vampire facelift, the skin is refreshed and smoothed. It also gains a rested and healthy appearance. The procedure helps the skin cope with the harmful effects of the sun. It is also a way to reverse collagen damage caused by sun exposure. A skin treatment using PRP is safe because the preparation made from the patient's tissues does not cause allergies or other side effects;
  • Polynucleotides (PN): This is the latest hit in aesthetic medicine. We use them to improve the condition of the skin on the face, neck, and décolletage. A treatment with their use stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in an immediate lifting effect. After the procedure, the skin is deeply and permanently moisturized, firmer, and more elastic. Additionally, polynucleotides improve skin texture and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment with PN also supports the regeneration of skin damaged by ultraviolet radiation.

Safe aesthetic medicine at Dr. Parda's clinic in Warsaw

It is worth emphasizing that our clinic follows the principle: "Safety first." Therefore, we take special care of it. Procedures are performed by an experienced doctor using renowned products and devices. Additionally, at Dr. Parda's clinic, all needle or cannula procedures are preceded by a facial ultrasound examination.

This minimizes the risk of post-treatment complications, including vascular complications. Ultrasound also increases the effectiveness of procedures and helps achieve natural results. The use of facial ultrasound also allows us to effectively treat complications brought to us by patients from other clinics.
