Why is microneedling beneficial to the skin?

Modus operandi of microneedling is comparable to fractional laser, although only in cold mode: penetration of skin with needles leads to the development of micro-damage and destruction of collagen fibres. In addition, steel needles have been found to interfere with electric fields at the cellular level, which should lead to wound healing. Collagen and elastin are regenerated. During remodeling, type 3 collagen is additionally converted into type 1 collagen, which has a positive effect on scarring. The above-mentioned processes result in general strengthening of skin firmness and its increased thickness. Nerves and vessels are not damaged during the procedure, only small capillaries, so there is minimal spot bleeding. Indications for microneedling treatments include the need to firm the skin and improve its texture.
