Telangiectasia around the nose is a persistent aesthetic concern. It usually begins quite subtly – the nose is initially red, and over time tiny red thread-like vessels begin to appear. These are capillaries which, once dilated, become visible and show through the skin. The problem may occur in individuals with delicate, sensitive skin or so-called vascular skin. Broken capillaries may also be caused by genetic factors, and in such cases it is difficult to prevent their appearance. In people who tend to flush in response to cold temperatures or alcohol, the problem may intensify over time and visible, unaesthetic telangiectasia may develop.
The most effective way to address visible vessels is to seek medical advice and undergo laser treatment. However, choosing the right laser is important, as not all devices offer the same level of effectiveness. At Dr Parda Aesthetic Medicine and Laser Therapy Clinic, we use V-LASER, which emits pulses of different wavelengths. Thanks to this, it allows the closure of vessels located at different depths – more superficial vessels on the face, usually red, as well as blue vessels located deeper, for example on the legs. Laser treatment for broken capillaries on the sides of the nose is a very safe method and does not pose a risk to health.
Patients who choose treatment at our Clinic are first examined by a specialist, who assesses the condition of the skin and checks whether there are any contraindications to the laser procedure. During the treatment, the beam of light generated by the laser is absorbed by the haemoglobin contained in the vessel. As a result, the vessel undergoes irreversible damage and, over the following weeks, becomes fibrosed. Swelling and redness, which may occur after the treatment, usually subside within a few days. During this time, gentle skincare products should be used and any products or accessories that could irritate the skin should be avoided.
