Do you know that feeling when you look in the mirror and see a tired, sad face, even though that is not how you feel at all? Downturned corners of the mouth and the accompanying “marionette lines” (folds running downward from the corners of the mouth toward the jawline) are among the first and most visible signs of ageing and the effects of gravity.

At our clinic, we know how to reverse this process subtly and naturally. We offer non-invasive and minimally invasive treatments for lifting the corners of the mouth, which not only restore a naturally cheerful expression to your face, but also visually rejuvenate it – without an overdone effect.

Our goal: To restore harmony and a youthful “smile” to your face while preserving fully natural facial expressions.

Who is this treatment for? (indications)

A treatment to lift the corners of the mouth is an ideal solution if you notice:

  • A “sad” or stern facial expression at rest, unrelated to your actual mood.
  • Marionette lines – clearly visible folds and depressions running downward from the corners of the mouth.
  • Loss of volume and skin laxity in the lower part of the face (around the mouth and chin).
  • A genetic tendency toward downturned mouth corners (this problem also affects younger people).

What does the treatment look like? Key recommendations before and after the procedure

Depending on the cause of the problem (muscle overactivity, loss of skin density, or volume loss in fatty tissue), we select the appropriate method: hyaluronic acid, botulinum toxin, lifting threads, or tissue biostimulators.

Before the treatment:

  • For 3–5 days before your planned appointment, do not take blood-thinning medications (e.g. aspirin) or anti-inflammatory drugs, in order to reduce the risk of bruising.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, take an antiviral medication prophylactically (e.g. Heviran) for 3 days before the treatment (and for 3 days after), after consulting your doctor.
  • On the day of the treatment, avoid alcohol and intense physical activity.

After the treatment (post-procedure recommendations):

  • For the first 24–48 hours, avoid excessive facial expressions, opening your mouth wide (e.g. at the dentist), drinking through a straw, and consuming very hot meals and drinks.
  • For at least 48 hours, do not massage or press the mouth area (unless your specialist recommends otherwise).
  • For 7–14 days after the treatment, avoid saunas, tanning beds, swimming pools, and strong sun exposure.
  • Remember about hygiene – apply the recommended regenerative creams with clean hands or a disposable cotton bud.

Important: contraindications to the treatment

We make sure that every treatment is 100% safe. The main contraindications to procedures around the mouth area include:

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Active cold sores or other skin infections in the treatment area (bacterial or fungal).
  • Uncontrolled systemic diseases (e.g. diabetes, autoimmune diseases).
  • Cancer (during treatment and for up to 5 years after its completion).
  • A tendency to develop hypertrophic scars (keloids).
  • Use of anticoagulants (requires consultation) or recent retinoid therapy.
  • Ongoing dental or orthodontic treatment (an interval of at least 2 weeks before and after the procedure is recommended).
