Our face is one of those areas of the body where changes related to the ageing process quickly become visible. The concerns with which patients come to our Clinic vary widely – from wrinkles to the loss of fat tissue that causes the skin to sag. In the era of the dynamic development of aesthetic medicine, these changes can be reversed, at least from a visual perspective. One of the methods of skin rejuvenation and facial volumisation is lipofilling, that is, autologous fat transfer to the face, which, due to its high effectiveness, safety, and minimal downtime, is becoming increasingly accepted by both women and men.
The procedure involves harvesting adipose tissue from the patient; in our clinic, we collect it from the least sensitive area, namely the flanks. The material is then appropriately prepared and applied to the treated areas using a special Dr Goisis cannula.
A major advantage of this procedure is the use of autologous material taken directly from the patient. Thanks to this, the risk of rejection or an allergic reaction is essentially impossible. After the procedure, the patient can return to normal activities immediately, without the need to remain in the Clinic. The procedure is also characterised by low invasiveness, compared for example with a surgical facelift. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. After the treatment, local swelling may persist on the face, but it subsides spontaneously within 3 to 5 days at the latest, depending on the patient.
Lipotransfer is most often performed to reduce wrinkles and facial folds. The procedure also makes it possible to improve skin firmness and restore volume loss in the fat tissue, for example in the cheek area.
