Microneedle radiofrequency reduces the signs of skin ageing as well as skin imperfections such as wrinkles, stretch marks, scars and laxity. It is also helpful in cases of excessive sebum production and allows enlarged pores to be reduced. The treatment is also recommended as a preventive procedure, improving skin density and increasing its resilience.
Before the procedure, a consultation with a physician is carried out, during which the treatment course and its mechanism of action are discussed in detail. The number of planned sessions is also determined – most often 2 to 4 treatments are recommended. However, visible effects may be observed even after the first session. For the patient’s comfort, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the area of skin that will be treated.
The procedure involves introducing micro-needles coated with gold and silicone into successive layers of the skin. Depending on the thickness of the patient’s skin in a given area and the expected effects, the depth of needle insertion varies and ranges from 0.5 mm to 3.5 mm. The needles penetrate in a wave-like motion, which allows them to pass easily into deeper layers while reducing discomfort during the treatment. A radiofrequency pulse is then emitted, causing the tissues around the needles to heat up. After the pulse is delivered, the needles are immediately withdrawn.
Despite the high energy used during the procedure, the epidermis is not burned. The skin remains red for the first several minutes, but this subsides spontaneously, and the patient may return to normal activity as early as the next day. The treatment may be performed throughout the year, as it does not cause photosensitivity. However, the use of high-protection sunscreen (minimum SPF 30) is required.
