Facial erythema is a concern frequently reported by our patients. It occurs in both women and men. Persistent redness of the cheeks, nose, chin, or forehead may be purely an aesthetic issue or a symptom of a condition such as rosacea. There are many methods that can help reduce erythema. At Dr Parda Clinic in Piaseczno, we treat it using a modern and highly effective vascular laser. These procedures are safe and comfortable. Learn more about the treatment of facial erythema.

How does erythema develop?

Flushing occurs as a result of vasomotor changes, meaning the sudden dilation of blood vessels under the influence of certain triggers. These include intense emotions, physical exertion, alcohol consumption, or exposure to heat. Temporary facial redness is physiological in nature. However, under the influence of sun exposure, the changes may persist for longer and eventually become permanent. For this reason, treatment of erythema should be started as early as possible. This is especially important because it may be not only an aesthetic concern, but also a symptom of a condition such as rosacea.

What is rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition. It mainly affects adults between the ages of 30 and 50. The exact cause of the disease has not been fully established. This type of acne is manifested, among other things, by redness, erythema, telangiectasia, papules, or pustules on the cheeks, nose, chin, or forehead. The condition may significantly affect quality of life.

Prompt diagnosis and treatment of rosacea are essential in order to prevent persistent erythema, permanent scarring, and ocular complications. Treatment may include laser procedures designed to close blood vessels and reduce the tendency to flush.

Treatment of facial erythema at Dr Parda Piaseczno

At our clinic, we use a modern laser system by Wontech to treat erythema. The device is a long-pulsed Nd:YAG KTP laser. The light pulses emitted by the laser are characterised by very high power and excellent pulse stability. The device offers two wavelengths: 532 nm and 1064 nm, and operates in three modes. Thanks to this, it has versatile applications.

It can be used to treat – even during a single session – changes such as:

  • erythema,
  • telangiectasia,
  • other vascular concerns,
  • pigmentary disorders.

In addition, the third mode – non-contact application of a short 1064 nm pulse (the so-called Genesis mode) – allows for the treatment of erythema and skin rejuvenation through collagen stimulation.

It is also worth noting that the device is equipped with innovative sapphire glass cooling technology, which minimises the risk of complications and shortens recovery time. As a result, treatments are not only effective, but also safe and comfortable. Our patients who have previously undergone treatments using older technologies are pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of this cooling system.

Preparation for vascular erythema removal treatment

Every procedure at our clinic is preceded by a qualification consultation. During the pre-treatment consultation for laser erythema removal, the physician examines the skin changes and decides which device settings should be selected to achieve optimal results. The physician also evaluates the underlying cause of the erythema. It should be remembered that if the redness is caused by an allergy or a medication being taken, the procedure will not be effective.

What does facial erythema removal treatment involve?

During the erythema treatment procedure, a process of selective photothermolysis takes place. The laser energy is selectively absorbed by haemoglobin (the red pigment in the blood) to a greater extent than by the surrounding tissues. As a result, the vessel is rapidly heated and becomes irreversibly destroyed and then absorbed. However, the adjacent tissues are not damaged. Continuous sapphire glass cooling makes the treatment safe and comfortable for the patient.

Effects of vascular erythema removal

The results of the procedure can be noticed after the very first session. After about 2 weeks, most lesions disappear or become less visible. In some cases, repeating the treatment is necessary. In patients with rosacea, laser therapy helps reduce the tendency of the condition to recur. In these patients, treatments usually need to be repeated from time to time, sometimes every year, and sometimes every few years.

Post-treatment care after facial erythema treatment

Erythema removal treatment does not require recovery time. Immediately after the procedure, the patient may return to everyday activities. After the treatment, UV exposure should be avoided and protective and regenerating skincare products should be used.

When should you schedule erythema removal treatment?

Because the laser we use for erythema removal also operates in Genesis mode, we can treat erythema all year round.
