In safe hands - looking beautiful, not artificial

A few weeks ago, the Polish Dermatological Society (PTD), in a letter to the Minister of Health, drew attention to the concerning and intensifying phenomenon in Poland of medical procedures in the field of aesthetic dermatology and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures being performed by people without medical education.

PTD emphasizes that no training, even if it ends with receiving a "certificate", can replace the knowledge and skills acquired during 6 years of medical studies and an additional 5 years of specialized training. This applies to procedures such as deep peels, needle mesotherapy, injections of fillers, neurotoxins, and platelet-rich plasma, use of lifting threads, cryotherapy, electrotherapy, and laser therapy of skin lesions, as well as the unauthorized use of the professional title "trichologist". The PTD Board, on behalf of all members of the Society, warns against using medical services provided by people without proper education. This is associated with the risk of endangering health and life.

Easy, Quick, and Cheap?
Aesthetic medicine treatments are now available almost at every corner. It would seem that we can easily, quickly, and cheaply shed years off our appearance and become the mirror image of our own daughter. And here we debunk the myths.

First: aesthetic medicine is NOT about "making yourself over" at all costs to look like an "eighteen-year-old", turning back lost time, and cheating the calendar.

Second: aesthetic medicine treatments aim to delay aging processes and provide proper skin regeneration, but in an aesthetic, natural, and ethical way. They require time - there are no shortcuts.

Third: many of these treatments are strictly medical procedures that help patients cure troublesome ailments or even life-threatening diseases.

Fourth: it won't be cheap. Medical preparations and equipment undergo clinical trials. Just as the invention of molecules that will become a medicine can take several years, so here one must be patient and, consequently, make serious investments in the whole process of research and development and then complex production, especially when using advanced technologies.

All this aims to ensure the safety of patients, which is an absolute priority.

Chasing Cheap Neurotoxin
We are pleased that Poles, both women and men, have an increasing need to care for a healthy body, appearance, and well-being. What concerns us, however, is recklessness and herd mentality. Let's think twice in the chase for cheap neurotoxin, whether it was accidentally purchased in an online store straight from China (it's a prescription drug!). Encouraged by the "promotional" price of platelet-rich plasma, let's look around the place where we will go for the treatment. Even the cleanest or atmospherically decorated beauty salon with a smiling, professionally looking lady in a white coat and gloves will NEVER be a sterile medical office. If a preparation has been classified as a prescription drug, it makes sense. To buy, among others, an injectable preparation, a doctor must present a document confirming that they are a doctor. Using such products by unauthorized persons is associated with endangering the health and life of the patient and is punishable.

Plague of Complications
More and more patients come to our Clinic for rescue because in case of complications, only a doctor who has the right knowledge can stand up to the task and help the patient quickly. In the event of an acute allergic reaction (not to mention anaphylactic shock) or acute infection, irreversible changes in appearance may occur. The doctor also has professional liability and liability insurance, from which compensation can be covered in case of complications. From a beautician, one can only seek their rights through private legal action.
