How to care for the skin around the eyes

The skin around the eyes is one of the most sensitive areas, prone to easy damage. The eyes are also where signs of aging are most visible. Around them, there are 22 muscles that are constantly moving, and the delicate skin is continually exposed to cosmetics used for makeup. Therefore, it should be cared for with special attention. Compared to other areas of the body, the skin around the eyes ages prematurely because it loses collagen, elastic fibers, and density. Fine lines, dryness, pigmentation, and under-eye circles appear quickly.

Mistakes to Avoid

Rubbing in eye creams and moisturizers
Many people first rub the cream on their hands and then rub or pat it over the entire face, which can tug at the eyes. This can end up damaging collagen and breaking capillaries. We should treat our skin as gently as a baby's: gently pat the cream into the skin with the fingertips, around the eyes best with the ring finger, as it exerts the least pressure.

Tugging the Eye While Drawing
Eyeliner Liquid eyeliner can be a hassle. We often rub the skin on the eyelids and the outer corners of the eyes, trying to correct the lines, which can cause redness and skin inflammation. Even if we are in a hurry, it's better to try and remove smudged mascara gently with a makeup remover pad.

Makeup Removal with Wipes
Removing makeup with special wipes not only causes breakouts but often irritates the skin around the eyes. Aggressive rubbing causes eye pain because the wipes often contain alcohol and preservatives. Instead, it's worth using an oil-based makeup remover.
